Happy Christmas Season!  The National Weather Service (NWS) has the following forecast for tonight/tomorrow:

Tonight: Rain, mainly after 4 a.m. Low around 17. Southeast wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Rain and snow showers, becoming all snow after 7 a.m. Widespread blowing snow, mainly after 2 p.m. Temperature falling to around 6 by 2 p.m. Wind chill values as low as -19. Windy, with a southwest wind 25 to 34 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

This is accompanied by a Winter Storm Warning and Wind Chill Warning from the NWS as well.

With this information and wanting to use an abundance of caution, particularly due to predicted winds and ice formation swiftly first thing in the morning, administration has determined that Friday, December 23, 2022, will be a Flexible Instruction Day for Cathedral Preparatory School.  What does this mean?  On a flexible instruction day:

  • Students will NOT report to school.
  • Students will receive information from their teachers (via email or Microsoft Teams) about expectations/assignments for the day.
  • Completion of assignments will confirm their participation/attendance for that school day.
