As part of Catholic Schools Week, students participated in a collection for the SSJ Neighborhood Network. Throughout the week, we participated in various service projects, prayerful reflections, and fun dress downs to celebrate our Catholic identity. #Prep #CSW2025 ✝

The American Legion Oratorical Contest is a yearly contest that was developed in 1938 primarily to instill a better knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States in high school students. Other objectives include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. This year, cadets Jocelynn Crofoot ’28 and June Crofoot ’27 represented the Wesleyville American Legion and North East American Legion at the Erie County level and also for the 29th District, which incorporates Erie and Crawford County. #Prep

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, January 29: • Ava Hensler led the bowling team to a 17-11 victory over Mercyhurst at Eastland Bowl. Hensler had a team-high series of 605 thanks to games of 205 and 232. Hensler broke the school record for consecutive strikes with 11 in a row over two consecutive games. 🎳 • Boys freshmen basketball defeated Oil City, 43-20. Jackson Lauria led the way with 16 points, while Eli Elwell finished with 15 points. 🏀 • LATE TUESDAY SCORE: Boys freshmen basketball fell to McDowell, 53-16. 🏀

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, January 27: • Boys basketball swept Sharon. Varsity picked up a 75-57 win over the Tigers. Ahmari Horton had 19 points to lead the way. Cormac Thunell added 16. Michael Thompson finished with 13 points, while Nando Mirarchi had 12. JV won their matchup, 53-41. Marco Pfister had 14 points, while Max Santillan and Elijah Roberson each had 11 points. 🏀 • Girls basketball swept McDowell. Varsity rolled to a 53-33 victory over the Trojans. Addie Biel had 27 points and 16 rebounds. Seana Thrower went for 14 points, while Jessica Beveridge had 11 points. JV won, 27-19, behind 11 points from Bella Scheloske. 🏀 • Girls swimming and diving defeated McDowell, 98-87. Jaslene Cage won four events. Maria Costa and Kendal Johnston were triple winners. Costa also broke two McDowell pool records in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. The backstroke record was once held by former teammate Megan Maholic ‘22VMA. Ellie Natemeier also won a pair of events. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming and diving fell to McDowell. 94-91. Owen Carson won the 500, while Ted Terrizzi took the diving competition. 🏊‍♂️

The Cathedral Prep student body held a dress down for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The proceeds were donated to the Martin Luther King Center. Executive Director of the Martin Luther King Center Mr. James Sherrod ’81 stop by campus last week to be presented with the proceeds. #Prep

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Boys basketball swept their weekend of matchups. Varsity jumped back into the win column using a 59-13 first half to defeat General McLane, 85-35. Cormac Thunell paced the Ramblers with 18 points. Michael Thompson had 15, while Nando Mirarchi finished with 12. JV also defeated the Lancers, 39-28, behind Marco Pfister’s 12 points. Brady Sambuchino chipped in seven points. Freshmen defeated North Catholic, 61-24. Eli Elwell had 18 points to lead the Ramblers, while Jackson Lauria finished with nine points. 🏀 • Wrestling won the Frank Ferguson Brooke Classic in West Virginia. Davion Edmond (120), Keagan Oler (138), Gabe Dorman (150), Brandon Byrd (165), and Bo Martucci (175) won their respective classes. Mason Gregor (106) and Andrew Gammon (144) finished second. Kamdyn Borrero (126), Jaden Crockett (157), Sam Harrington (190), and Omar Arrington (215) all took third. Jourdin Crockett (138), Bode Terry (157), Corey Kowalski (215), and Max Spaulding all finished fifth. 🤼‍♂️ • Girls basketball split their doubleheader with Olmstead Falls (OH). Varsity fell to the Bulldogs, 65-40. Addie Biel had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Seana Thrower finished with 10 points, Jessica Beveridge finished with 9 points. JV won their matchup, 34-28. Kayla Bogdanski '25 and Ava Hensler '25 held a winter clothing drive last week on campus to help those in our community. They collected 18 backs and two big boxes of clothes, which include 850 items, to donate to SafeNet, the Upper Room, Little Free Pantry, and Church of the Covenant. Seventh and eighth grade students in the area joined us last weekend for Rambler Night Out! Attendees enjoyed a night full of fun, food, games, activities, dancing, music, and more! Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, January 23: • Girls swimming and diving defeated Meadville, 119-36. Jaslene Cage and Maria Costa each won four events. Kendal Johnston won three times, while Chloe Borrero, Ellie Natemeier, and Ange Terrizzi all won twice. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming and diving made it a sweep of the Bulldogs with their 136-27 victory. Owen Carson and Adam Clark each won four events. Double winners included Matthew Hinman, Callum Snider-Mills, Jack Raimy, and Thomas Fortin. Ted Terrizzi won diving. 🏊‍♂️ • Varsity hockey earned a 3-0 shutout win over Armstrong. Ethan Cunningham scored a pair of goals, while Chris Bruschi had the other tally. Bruschi had a pair of assists, while Mathius Sprickman and Tucker Kinnear also had assists. Ian Brown made 17 saves in net to secure the shutout. 🏒 • Indoor track competed in their second NEOITC Green Division meet at Spire Institute. For the girls, Reagan Johnston took sixth in the 400. Fina Bannister won the 800, while Sophie Becker took second. Allison Bender won the 1600, while Anne-Catherine Brown followed in second. Sarah Teed and Bender finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 3200. The 4x400 relay of Becker, Johnston, Brown, and Bannister took second. The 4x800 relay of Bannister, Bender, Brownm, and Johnston took first. On the boys side, Devin Easter and Taijoun Williams finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 60. Easter and Williams finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200. Declan Toohey took fourth in the 400, while Roman Hamm followed in fifth. Will English took fifth in the 800, while Nick Kupniewski finished in seventh. Hank Partridge took fifth in the 60 hurdles. The 4x200 relay of Gavin Easter, D. Easter, Brycen Brooks, and Williams took fourth. The 4x400 relay took fourth. 👟

Davion Edmond (121), Kamdyn Borrero (127), Keagan Oler (139), Jaden Crockett (160), and Bo Martucci (215) won by technical fall. Andrew Gammon (145) and Gabe Dorman (152) won by major decision, while Mason Gregor (107), Sam Harrington (172), and Brandon Byrd (189) picked up wins by decision. 🤼‍♂️ • Bowling fell to McDowell, 27-1. Ava Hensler bowled a team high 225 with a 563 series for the Ramblers. 🎳

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, January 21: • Boys basketball split their doubleheader with Erie High. Varsity fell in their Region matchup to the Royals, 65-58. Michael Thompson had 23 points. JV won their game in a thriller, 50-48. Marco Pfister had 20 points to lead the way, while Demario Smith finished with 12. 🏀

Students in Ms. Kabasinski’s Anatomy & Physiology class just concluded their studies of the muscles. They wrapped up the unit by constructing muscle men. They then took a lab practical using them. #Prep #Anatomy #Physiology ⚕

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, January 20: • Girls basketball split their doubleheader against Fairview. Varsity turned in a great defensive effort with their 34-27 win over the Tigers. Seana Thrower led the way with 11 points and three steals, while Evalene Geary had nine points and five rebounds. JV dropped their first game of the year, 36-30. Jasmine Woodard scored 12 points to lead the way.🏀 • Boys JV basketball defeated Mercyhurst Prep, 50-37. Demario Smith had 13 points, while Marco Pfister finished with 10. Freshmen made it a sweep, winning 68-28. Matthew Nedreski had 13 points, while Jayson Feliciano added 11. 🏀 • Varsity hockey fell to Fox Chapel, 3-1. Ethan Cunningham scored the lone goal for the Ramblers. Chris Bruschi and Ashton Duchini had assists, while Ian Brown made 39 saves in goal. 🏒 • LATE WEEKEND SCORES: Varsity hockey won the Meadville Invitational. They picked up a 7-1 win over Holy Name (OH) in their first game. Chris Bruschi scored a pair of goals. Ethan Cunningham, Tucker Kinnear, Rylan Sorge, Nick Pugne, and Mathius Sprickman scored. Cunningham, Kinnear, and Sprickman each had a pair of assists. Bruschi, Ashton Duchini, and Henry Fritts also had assists. Ian Brown made 10 saves in goal. They would then defeat Shaker Heights (OH), 7-2. Cunninham had a hat trick. Bruschi, Kinnear, Pugne, and Sprickman scored. Kinnear had two assists, while Sprickman, Duchini, Bruschi, and Michael Corritore had assists. Brown made 20 saves in net. The Ramblers would defeat Bethel Park, 3-1. Kinnear scored a pair, while Cunningham also scored. Bruschi, Duchini, Fritts, and Logan Morris had assists, while Brown got the win in goal. They would defeat the hosts in the semifinals, 3-1, before shutting out Gilmour Academy (OH) in the championship, 4-0. Charlie McBrier, Sprickman, Bruschi, and Rylan Sorge scored. Elijah Roberson had 10, while Max Santillan and Demario Smith each finished with nine. 🏀 • Boys swimming and diving defeated Canisius (NY), 144-32. Jack Raimy, Matthew Hinman, and Callum Snider-Mills each won four events. Owen Carson was a triple winner, while Andrew Dutchcot and Thomas Fortin each won a pair of events. Last night, alumni from both Prep and Villa in the Pittsburgh area gathered at the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley.
