A few weeks ago, four Prep show choir students had the opportunity to participate in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Pennsylvania State Honors Choir, which was a part of the ACDA state convention. These students were four of 154 choir members who came from 25 of the top public and private high schools in Pennsylvania, as well as college students and their music teachers. This year’s state honors choir was hosted at Messiah University and was led by guest conductor Dr. Andrea Ramsey. Pieces performed in their amazing concert hall were composed by Dr. Ramsey, as well as Dr. Anthony Tracek-King, who also had a chance to work with the State Honors Choir. One of the five pieces performed was the world premiere of the composition, and winner of the 2023 ACDA-PA Composition Competition by Maira Myers, who had the chance to meet the choir members as well. The honors choir also participated in a conducting workshop with young choir directors as part of the experience, being able to experience Dr. Ramsey and Dr. Tracek-King teach how to conduct a choir. Congratulations to Lexy Kosobucki ’25, Tia Taylor ’25, Chris Reitz ’25, Rob Socash ’25, and our own choir director Mr. Andrew Alesso! We are so proud of you! #Prep #HonorsChoir 🎶

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” – St. Augustine Fr. Jason began our first weekly Mass of the school year with this quote to remind us of the importance of the gift we have in faith. Weekly Mass as a school community is an opportunity outside of Sunday and our personal prayer lives to lift one another up as a community in prayer through the power of the Lord’s word and sacrament. #Prep #Mass #Faith ✝
