Middle school science classes were busy dissecting owl pellets in class yesterday. Students were able to see what an owl consumes. Many bones were found, including skulls of mice and voles! #MTA #Science 🦉

Yesterday was Pi Day! Ms. Nolan’s seventh and eighth grade math classes celebrated the occasion. Seventh grade familiarized themselves with the first 40 digits of pi by creating pi skylines and cityscapes. Eighth grade used their measuring skills calculate pi. Students measured the circumference and diameter of circular objects, then divided these measurements to get (approximately) pi, 3.14. #MTA #PiDay math

Happy International Women’s Day! This year’s theme is #InspireInclusion. Together we can forge women's equality. Today, and every day, we celebrate the women in our lives and the differences they make in the world. #InternationalWomensDay 💙🧡

This week, kindergarten has been reading “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and working on subtraction! Today, for their Sight Word exercise, it rained spaghetti and meatballs! Each meatball had a number and a sight word on them (12 total), and the noodles had a sight word sentence. Students were to collect 12 meatballs and one noodle on their plates. They then had to write all 12 sight words. If they had a duplicate, they had to put the “extra meatball” in the “refrigerator” just like the people of Chewandswallow did with their leftovers! Students also had to write and illustrate their sight word sentences! For subtraction, they made Play-Doh balls and smashed the Play-Doh balls that were subtracted. We love kindergarten! #MTA #CelebrateReadingWeek #KindergartenFun 🍝📚

Mike McCoy of "Mike McCoy Ministries" spoke with our middle school students yesterday. McCoy reaches students in Catholic schools with the message of faith, hope, and encouragement; enabling them to make better decisions in their lives. He shared stories about his football career and life, including the struggles he faced. He spoke on perseverance and gave students examples on how to maneuver through obstacles in life. #Faith #EmpoweringYouth

Today was Heritage Day in eighth grade! Students celebrated their heritage and culture by bringing in dishes associated with their families. Dishes included macaroni and cheese, empanadas, dumplings and chocolate trifle cake. #MTA #HeritageDay

Third grade is learning about equivalent fractions using Play-Doh in math class! Math is our superpower at Mother Teresa Academy! #MTA #Math

Kindergarten recently participated in some experiential learning! They took a virtual field trip to the post office. They learned all about the process, postmen and postwomen, how to address a letter, and how the letters get mailed! They then made valentines, packaged them into letters, put the postage stamp on them, and walked to the mailbox and mailed them. They anxiously waited to receive their valentines and see who theirs was! #MTA #Valentines ♥📮

We want to thank everyone who came to join us for our Open House + Expo! We had student artwork displayed in the cafeteria, fifth grade science fair, and some very fun things happening in the STEM lab with our OCULUS headsets. While here, visitors were able to meet our awesome faculty and see just a small glimpse of some of the very cool things we do throughout the year! #MTA #OpenHouse #Expo 🟠🔵⚪

The Season of Lent has begun! We celebrated our weekly mass today in observance of Ash Wednesday with Fr. Mike DeMartinis and Fr. Jason Feigh in the Cathedral! The ashes come from blessed palms from Palm Sunday of the previous year to symbolize penance and repentance. May everyone have a blessed Lenten season! #MTA #Lent ✝

Third and fourth grade partnered up to work on Black History Month PowerPoint presentations! Students had to research, create a PowerPoint, and present it to both classes. It was third grades first time using PowerPoint, so fourth grade was able to teach their partner how it works! Ruby Bridges, Harriet Tubman, Barack Obama, and Serena Williams were just a few of the people our students chose to research. #MTA #BlackHistoryMonth

Today, our middle school students took a field trip to Flo Fabrizio Ice Center to learn how to ice skate! We might have started with more bodies down on the ice than skates, but students started to get the hang of it. For so many first timers, everyone did awesome! #MTA #FieldTripFun ⛸

Kindergarten had some shaving cream spelling fun in class today! They worked on practicing their “-am” word family spellings! #Kindergarten #Spelling 🔠

Saturday was the Feast of St. Blaise. Father Jason stopped by campus on Friday to give all our students a special throat blessing. Saint Blaise is the patron saint of diseases of the throat and sickness, so we pray for health amongst our school community! #MTA #Faith

Also on Friday, as a part of Catholic Schools Week, we celebrated our staff! We dressed like our favorite superheroes (some of us dressing like our favorite hero of our school). Students and teachers teamed up against each other for few rounds of volleyball. The teachers took on the middle school students and dominated! We had so much fun this Catholic Schools week and are grateful for the opportunities and community we have here at MTA. #MTA #Family 🏐

Middle school science classes used Legos today to construct self-standing football field goal posts. They then kicked field goals to figure out percentages. Mr. L also took a few shots, unfortunately all wide right! #MTA #ScienceStrong 🏈💪
